Juno Empire, the music project of Alexander Thomas, channels a vibrant mix of existential wonder and introspection into an energetic celebration of life. After graduating from Northern Arizona University with a degree in film production, Thomas began his career as a composer for film, drawn to the "emotion behind the stories" and dedicated himself to finding unique ways to translate directors' visions into music. Despite working on various short films, a feature, and numerous advertisement packages, he found himself yearning for a more personal connection to his music. His time in Los Angeles, while creatively productive, felt detached from his deeper passion, leading him to “hit the reset button” and return to his home state of Arizona to create music on his own terms.
With a fresh perspective, Thomas pursued a career in Respiratory Therapy, which provided both stability and the flexibility to explore music more freely. Working in acute care, he encountered the fragility and fleeting nature of life daily, which reignited a long-standing preoccupation with existentialism and inspired the heart of Juno Empire. "These thoughts aren’t always comfortable to observe," Thomas notes, "but I’ve found that celebrating them instead of being afraid of them honors our experience as people."
In Juno Empire, Thomas seeks to weave together joy and pain, dreams and reality, as if they're "opposite sides of the same coin." For Thomas, the project is a “party about celebrating being alive,” a space where he aims to bring people together in shared, authentic moments, exploring life's mysteries while reveling in its beauty. Through Juno Empire, he invites listeners to join him in celebrating all that life entails—embracing each fragile, strange, and wonderful moment we have on this earth.
